Activities of the opening session of the Thirty-First Conference on Infection Control, attended by 400 participants

Today, the activities of the annual conference of the Egyptian Society for Infection Control, as the Egyptian branch of the International Association of Infection Control Experts, began over two days, in Port Said Governorate, under the patronage of Professor Dr. Osama Raslan, Secretary-General of the Arab Doctors Union.

The conference was chaired by Professor Dr. Osama Raslan, President of the Egyptian Society for Infection Prevention and Control.

Participated in the activities of the opening session of the conference today, which witnessed the presence of more than 400 participants, the President of the International Association of Infection Control Experts, Dr. Naima Al-Qaseer, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, Dr. Magdy Bakr, advisor to the President of the General Authority for Health Care for technical affairs, and Dr. Walaa Abdel Latif, consultant. Infection control, and a number of foreign experts in the field of biosafety from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the United States of America and the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention, and an elite group of specialists and symbols of infection control.

Dr. Maha Fathi, Secretary General of the Egyptian Society for Infection Control, scientific rapporteur for the professional diploma in infection control, said that the scientific program of the conference includes 6 scientific sessions and two workshops.

She explained: The conference discusses everything that is important and new in preventing and controlling infection at various levels of health care.

Fathi stressed that the conference also discusses integration between all relevant disciplines, such as clinical governance, risk management, and health care quality, to achieve patient safety and provide safe health care.

The conference also addresses a number of important issues, the most prominent of which are: Skills and standards for infection prevention and control, infection surveillance, data analysis and presentation, challenges of infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance, and biorisk management.

Professor Dr. Osama Raslan said that the conference this year is the result of cooperation between the Egyptian Society for Infection Control and a number of local and international institutions, including the Egypt office of the World Health Organization, the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the General Authority for Health Accreditation and Control, the General Authority for Health Care, and the Arab Institute. Raslan revealed that the conference will announce the first advanced scientific program specialized in biorisk management, which is the “Professional Diploma in Biorisk Management” awarded by the Arab Institute for Sustainable Professional Development in cooperation with the Egyptian Society for Infection Control, the University of Nebraska Medical Center in the United States of America, and the African Center for Control of Infection. Diseases and their prevention.

The activities of the first day of the conference witnessed the honoring of a number of distinguished graduates of the Professional Diploma in Infection Control, which is awarded by the Arab Institute for Sustainable Professional Development in cooperation with the Association, and who have had distinguished achievements at the local and regional levels in the field of infection prevention and control.
