The 26th Conference on Infection Control in Alexandria

The activities of the new scientific conference on infection control in Alexandria Governorate began today at noon, which was organized by the Egyptian Society for Infection Control, in cooperation with the Arab Institute for Professional Development “Motamed”, and sponsored by the Union Under the Arab Influence, entitled “Together… to prevent infection”, and its activities continue as a conference 3 credit days from today until next Monday.

The conference is chaired by Dr. Osama Raslan, Secretary General of the Arab Doctors Union, who began his speech by welcoming the participants, especially Arab and foreign delegations, stressing that the Arab Doctors Union appreciates and supports the efforts made by Arab medical associations and institutions, for their role in developing the specialized professional staff, which achieves the Union’s mission. “Developing and qualifying medical staff and improving health conditions in the Arab world,” and the importance of cooperation and partnership between bodies and institutions working in the field of infection control.

Representatives of a number of local and international bodies and organizations also participated, and the most prominent attendees included Dr. Ahmed Mendeli, representative of the World Health Organization, Dr. Janet Haas, President of the Association of Infection Controllers Around the World, and representatives of the Egyptian Ministry of Health, the African Network for Infection Control, and the Egyptian Association for Patient Safety.

The conference was attended by nearly 500 specialists in the field of infection control, including faculty members, doctors, dentists, nurses, and pharmacists from various parts of the Arab world and Africa.

The conference discusses a number of topics, including the use of modern scientific methods and partnerships to achieve safe medical practices, aspects of infection control and imported and returning epidemics, microbial resistance to antibiotics, occupational health, disinfection and sterilization, infection control challenges, and professional development in infection control.

The conference is considered one of the most important means of the Egyptian Society for Infection Control. To achieve the association’s mission, which aims to create a generation of distinguished infection control specialists, and to build a local and international professional and scientific communication network, in order to reduce infection rates in Arab and Egyptian hospitals to the lowest possible level, and to raise awareness and adopt a culture of safety and prevention.
